In New York, I’ll walk 10…20…30 blocks to get from A to B. However, the soles on my Sperry’s are wearing a little fast for my liking, so I’m looking to supplement my walking with a new mode of transportation. The subway really doesn’t do it for me in the summer, I don’t have anywhere to put a Vespa and I’d have to be clinically insane to drive a car in this city, so…I’m in the market for a bike (Yup, 3 years in New York and I still don’t have one).
Public, is a new bike company that aims to “rethink the way we get around.” According to the company, their vision is for a time when we think as carefully about the way get around everyday as we do about what we eat, how we dress, and how we furnish our homes.
Founded by Rob Forbes, who also founded Design Within Reach, Public has spent the last two years developing and testing their steel framed city bikes based on well-established European styling and function. They “ride like butter” and are guaranteed for life.
