I had the pleasure of meeting Mac, one half of tie company Pierrepont Hicks, at a trunk show at the Ace Hotel in New York recently. Cool dude. The other half of Pierrepont Hicks is Mac’s wife, Kat. Kat spent time at Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Gourmet and Elle Magazines, while Mac worked in real estate development and construction.
In 2007, the couple moved from Kat’s native Brooklyn to Mac’s native Minneapolis and started their new venture out of their home. The idea came about as most good ideas do, Mac couldn’t find the kind of ties he was looking for, so they anted up and started making some themselves. “Mac does the numbers, Kat handles the design.” All Pierrepont Hicks ties are produced in New York by master craftsmen who practice traditional workmanship patterns. “A single tie can take sixteen steps to create.” When you look at one of these badboys first hand…you can tell.
Supreme craftsmanship at it’s finest. The fact that they’re doing it from Minneapolis only makes them cooler.
